Events in October

As we hurtle at full speed towards the holidays, there is SO much going on at Bel and Bunna’s Books, and in our neighborhood as well! Check out what we are up to and what books are coming out between now and the end of the month.

Sunday 8th October

Bel is at the Town Hall Theater Lafayette, leading a fairy tale story time before the matinee. The event is for ticket-holders of the amazing “The Song of the Nightingale”, which is a musical based on “The Nightingale” by Hans Christian Anderson. It’s playing until October 21st – see it while you can!

Tuesday 10th October

New Book Tuesday –

“Turtles All The Way Down”, by John Green (YA, 14yrs+) (We have signed copies)
“Never Say Die” (Alex Rider series), by Anthony Horowitz (10yrs+)
“Spy School – Secret Service”, by Stuart Gibbs (8-12yrs)

“Eugenia Lincoln and the Unexpected Package” (Deckawoo Dr, Vol 4), by Kate diCamillo (6-9yrs)

Thursday 12th October

At Circle Time we will be putting together our Leaf Books – paper and glue provided, bring your own leaves!! (There will also be cupcakes…)

Saturday 14th October

Bel is at Orchard Nursery and Florist reading stories as part of their 2017 Harvest Festival celebrations.
Alex will be at the Bay Area Kids Book Fair in Sunnyvale, so if you’re in the area stop in to say hi (& maybe buy some books!). Admission is free and there is a lot to see and do here!

Sunday 15th October

Bel will be at the Bay Area Kids Book Fair at Acalanes High School in Lafayette – come and see her, Curious George, The Hungry Caterpillar, Pete the Cat, Clifford the Big Red Dog and a whole slew of local authors and illustrators!. Admission is free.

Tuesday 17th October

“Tales from a Not-So-Secret Crush Catastrophe”(Dork Diaries 12) by Renee Russell (9-13yrs)

Thursday 19th October

A Thursday book release must mean something special is happening – and here it is – the much anticipated “The Book of Dust: La Bella Sauvage”, by Philip Pullman (14yrs+) will be on our shelves (pre-order here)
Also on Thursday October 19th – join us at Bel and Bunna’s for a discussion on ‘Do You Know What Your Teen is Reading?’ For further information and for details on how to sign up for this free event, check out our website after October 10th.

Saturday 21st October

2pm – Kathryn Berla will be launching her newest book The House at 758, a young adult novel (13+). There will be readings and snacks and a chance to talk with an excellent local author!! This is one not to miss for our YA audience.

Tuesday 24th October

Friday 27th October

Lafayette Chamber of Commerce presents ‘Trick or Treat Street’, 4:00-6:00pm- remember to include Bel and Bunna’s when you plan your route!! We will have more than enough candy for everyone!!

Saturday 28th October

Bel will be at Anthropologie In Walnut Creek (yes, really), hosting a pop-up shop from 12:00-4:00pm.

Tuesday 31st October

New Book Tuesday –
“The Empress” (Diabolic 2), by S J Kincaid (14yrs+)
Circle Time will have a Halloween theme, and there will be little giveaways for anyone who comes in in costume!

Story telling, gardening songs, games/crafts, suitable for 5 & under with an accompanying adult.
Every Saturday at 11:00am
Story Time
Story telling, crafts, guests readers, author visits. Suitable for all ages, accompanied by an adult.
